Babu’s Fast Is Politically Motivated: Chiranjeevi

Vijayawada, December 19: The PRP chief, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, has termed the indefinite fast of TDP chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, on farmers’ problems as politically motivated.

Talking to the media here on Saturday, Mr Chiranjeevi lamented that there was not a useful debate on the farmers’ problems in the Assembly. He said that it was unfortunate that some used the Assembly for their personal agendas. He said that while Mr Naidu had demanded a compensation of Rs 5,000 per acre for the farmers who lost their crops in the all-party meeting, suddenly demanded compensation of Rs 10,000 in the Assembly. He said the Leader of Opposition lacked confidence on his own word.

On the role being played by the State MPs, the PRP president said that it was due to their negligence that the State was not getting the help due to it from the Centre. On the demand for Telangana State, he said that he still stuck to his commitment to the united Andhra Pradesh. He also hoped that the report of the Sri Krishna committee on the Telangana tangle would be in accordance with the majority opinion.
