Babu wants enrolment drive completed by May 1

Hyderabad, April 26: Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu today called upon the party cadre to complete the membership drive before May 1.

During a tele-conference with his party leaders today, Naidu reviewed the progress of the membership drive which began on April 5 . He claimed that there was a tremendous response to the party’s membership drive.

Naidu wanted his party leaders to participate simultaneously in Prajapatham and membership drives, he alleged that the state government was conducting Prajapatham for namesake and no major issue was solved in the programme.

Though people were suffering from several diseases and facing drinking water and power shortage, the government was not giving any categorical assurance to solve the problems, he alleged.

“Congress MLAs and ministers are keeping away from Prajapatham as people are raising their problems.’’ Naidu said there were large-scale irregularities in the NREGS. Congress leaders were sanctioning works under NREGS without the approval of village sarpanches. Machinery was used in NREGS works indiscriminately flouting the norms, Naidu alleged.

He wanted the cadre to raise issue like non-payment of bills under Indiramma housing scheme, reimbursement of fee and scholarships to students.

The TD chief directed the party cadre to participate actively in the nationwide hartal on April 27, a call given by 13 political parties. The TDP, CPM, CPI, Forward Bloc and RSP would observe hartal in the state against price-rise, he added.
