Babu vows to be on all-party team to PM

Hyderabad, July 24: Asserting that he would take part in the all-party delegation to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the Babli issue, Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu today came down heavily on chief minister K Rosaiah alleging that the latter has become a part of the conspiracy hatched by the Maharashtra government to work against the interests of AP.

“Reports of the AP government sending a flight to forcibly bring back TDP members from Maharashtra shows that the chief minister had colluded with the authorities of the neighbouring state. The chief minister’s statement that no dharnas or protests should be made in Delhi if the outcome of the allparty delegation to the Prime Minister did not go in favour of the state indicates that Rosaiah is not fit to be a chief minister. “On the other hand, the TDP took up Babli yatra with an intention to protect the state’s interests but not for political mileage. We will not compromise in our struggle on Babli,” Naidu remarked at a press conference at his Jubilee Hills residence here today.

Chandrababu alleged that the Maharashtra government could not have gone ahead with the construction Babli and other barrages on the Godavari river illegally without the support of the Congress central leadership.

The TDP would strive to bring pressure on the Centre to stop Babli works and would go to the people if any injustice was meted out to the state. “What is the use of a central government if it fails to intervene to resolve an inter-state water dispute?” he asked.

The TDP chief took exception to one partyone member restriction on attending the allparty meeting held at the secretariat today.

The TDP had not boycotted the meeting, it had given a representation on the party’s stand on the Babli issue.

“I will go with four party leaders to participate in the all-party meeting convened by the Prime Minister in Delhi. I will go on fast in front of the PM’s gate if I am not allowed to participate in the meeting.
