Hyderabad, April 25: TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu today demanded a thorough probe by Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) into the IPL scandal. By resorting to betting and matchfixing, the country’s image was at stake at the international level. He demanded the Centre should make a statement on the issue.
Speaking to media persons, he also demanded probe into how the money has reached the franchises, in the wake of the alleged role of Dawood Ibrahim.
Naidu also suggested cancellation of final match of the IPL till the probe was completed.
On the phone-tapping incident, Naidu suspected the role of AICC president Sonia Gandhi.
The Prime Minister should explain as to why the telephones of important political leaders were tapped, he said. Phone-tapping is an unpardonable crime. The Prime Minister should own responsibility for this and explain to the nation under what circumstances were telephones of important political leaders tapped, the TD chief said.
He alleged that phonetapping has become a habit for the Congress only to blackmail its political rivals.
