Hyderabad, February 4: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday demanded that the state government release arrears of fee reimbursement to all students who are pursuing engineering in private colleges.
In a letter he had written to the Chief Minister, Mr Naidu said that 24 lakh students in the state are facing an uncertain future and harassment due to failure of state government in releasing funds under fee reimbursement scheme.
He said the government was playing with lives of students by appointing a plethora of committees and dragging the issue.
The TDP chief said the GO’s and guidelines have clearly reflected the government’s move to impose series of restrictions to lessen its financial commitment. The government has also violated the directives of the Supreme Court issued in this connection, he stated.
With the deadline to the government of February 15 for releasing the arrears to private college managements fast approaching, the former chief minister questioned the rationale behind setting up of Cabinet Sub-Committee with eight Ministers.
Mr Naidu warned the government of serious consequences if it failed to release fee reimbursement dues and save the students’ academic careers
