Hyderabad, October 05: Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas and also flagged off a vehicle carrying relief materials provided by Telugu Desam workers.
In a tactical move, Naidu did not make any adverse comments on the government.
“It is not the time for politics. Let us all extend a helping hand to the government,’’ he told his party workers.
Talking with reporters at the Begumpet airport after the aerial survey, Naidu said Kurnool district people escaped a major damage thanks to the blessings of Lord Mallikarjuna.
The government should have taken precautionary measures to avert the damage.
Officials failed to study the inflow charts and anticipate the huge inflows into the Krishna, he alleged.
Naidu demanded that the Centre declare the floods as a national calamity and sanction funds liberally for relief and rehabilitation works.
Praja Rajyam president K Chiranjeevi exhorted his fans to help the flood-hit people.
He alleged that the State Government had failed to provide relief to flood-affected people. Food and water packets did not reach the victims, he alleged.
The PRP constituted a five-member committee to monitor the relief works. The party will also dispatch party leaders to assess the loss caused by the floods.
Chiranjeevi also demanded that the floods be declared a national calamity.
