Babri Masjid issue likely to be resolved – Compromise Formula suggested

There is a fresh ray of hope for an out-of-court settlement to resolve Babri Masjid issue to establish the ownership of the land acquired by the Govt. on which Babri Masjid was constructed earlier.

The compromise formula suggests that the 70 acres of disputed premises would house both a mosque and Ram Mandir with a 100-feet high separating wall in between.

The oldest petitioner of Babri Masjid Case Mr. Hashim Ansari representing the Muslims and Mahant Gyan Das Chief Priest of Akhara Parishad had a meeting yesterday at Hanuman Garhi to negotiate the issue. In these negotiations Vishwa Hindu Parishad will not be involved.

The Mahant told the newsmen that he and Mr. Ansari have discusses this issue with almost all the Hindu leaders and they have Okayed the proposal. He further said that he and Mr. Ansari will meet Mr. Narendra Modi to discuss this issue with him.

Zafaryab Jilani, Convener of All India Babri Masjid Action Committee told that he has full faith in Mr. Ansari and his efforts which he has been making in this case so far. Mr. Jilani hopes that all the Muslim leaders of the country will accept this proposal.

Mahant Das told that he is in favour of construction of both Ram Mandir and Babri Masjid side by side with a huge separating wall of 100 feet high.

It may be noted that Babri Masjid title dispute case is going on in Allahabad High Court since 1950. The Court gave its on 30th September 2010 and divided the land into three parts. The Court said that two-thirds portion of the disputed land should be allotted to Hindu groups and one-third to be given to Muslim for the construction of Mosque. This judgment was not accepted by the Muslim groups and they approach the Supreme Court which passed an order on 27th January 2013 to maintain status quo.

The Mahant also told that he is not in favour of hurting the Muslims since they are getting less land. If this compromise formula is accepted both the Hindus and the Muslims will get equal piece of land. He also condemned the policies of VHP and BJP who have taken a stand that mosque should be build of Panchkosi Parikrama boundaries of Ayodhya. He also said that he doesn’t care for a handful of VHP leaders. He reaffirmed his faith in the people of India.
