Babri Masjid case: why it should not be considered integral part of religion: asks advocate

New Delhi: The next hearing of Babri Masjid Ram-Janmabhoomi case is scheduled on July 13. After summer vacations the hearing of Ram-Janmabhoomi case was held on Friday before a 3-member team. During the hearing the parties completed their unfinished arguments. Later senior advocate Dr Rajiv Dhawan presented their arguments in the court and said that the opposite party has not presented any evidences in favour of Ram temple except aastha and did not submitted any evidence that the Babri Masjid was built by demolishing Ram temple. He told the bench that Babri Masjid was not built for fun sake but hundreds of people offered prayer there. Why should it not be considered integral part of the religion?, he asked.

Dr Dhawan argued that if the matter of polygamy and halala can be sent for hearing before multi-member bench why not Babri Masjid case?

During the hearing Chief Justice stopped senior advocate PN Mishra, who is representing Hindu stakeholders, from indulging into unnecessary arguments. He asked Dr Rajiv Dhawan who is representing Jamiat Ulama to throw light on Islamic rulings regarding masjid. On this Dr Rajiv Dhawan said Ismail Farooqui verdict has caused a great damage to the position of Masajid in sharia. Hence the paragraph no 81 of the said verdict should be changed, because it is stated in the paragraph that it is not necessary to offer prayer in the masjid, it can be offered anywhere.
