Babri Masjid Action Committee to organise ‘peace anniversary’ on Babri mosque demolition day

Lucknow: Babri Masjid Action Committee (BMAC) on wednewday demanded that those guilty of the Babri mosque demolition should be punished and that a “peace anniversary” of the incident be observed on December 6.

“On December 6, memoranda will be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav through district magistrates concerned demanding them to expedite the cases related to the Babri mosque demolition,” BMAC convener Zafaryab Jilani said here.

“The Centre will be asked to move an application in the Supreme Court for early hearing of appeals to decide land ownership of the site in Ayodhya,” he added.
In the light of Liberhan Commission Report, Jilani said BMAC demands that conspiracy charge, which was dropped by the CBI in 2003, should be included against the accused, “including BJP leader L K Advani”.

“An application should be moved in the court for including conspiracy charge,” he said.

In memoranda to the Chief Minister by BMAC units, Jilani said he would be requested to ensure status quo on the site and direct police and administration officials to ensure peace on the day and initiate strict action against those trying to vitiate the atmosphere.
Jilani appealed to hold peaceful demonstrations on the anniversary, saying that in districts where demonstrations will be held by BMAC and other secular committees, peace of the state should not be disturbed.

The 16th century Babri Masjid was demolished by Hindu fundamentalists on December 6 in 1992.
