‘Baahubali 2’ Nizam rights sold for a record price

This was on the cards. The Nizam rights of Prabhas-starrer ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’, whose release is eagerly awaited, have been acquired by Sunil Narang of Asian Films for a record sum.

A source close to the deal points out, “Narang has pipped Dil Raju, who distributed ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ in Nizam, and snatched the rights for a figure of Rs 45 crore, a never before deal in the history of Telugu cinema. Since part 1 has made close Rs 40-42 crore in Nizam territory alone, Narang was confident that part 2 too will make a killing bearing in mind the enormous hype it is carrying.

He is hopeful that the film will end up collecting Rs 52-55 crore in full run and hence didn’t think twice to get hold of the rights.” Also starring Rana, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah in the lead, ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’, directed by SS Rajamouli, will release globally on April 28, 2017.
