The Government Degree College, Kukatpally is starting two new groups at degree level from this academic year. The courses are: B.A Journalism and BSc Maths, Statistics and Computer Science.
According to a pressnote here today, Principal Dr N. Kamala Kumari, said BA- Journalism, Psychology and English will prepare students for print, Electronic and online media career opportunities in local, national and international media organizations. The students will be able to publish their own blogs which are becoming popular by the day and can take up content writing and editing assignments as freelancers. Expert professionals from various media houses will be engaged to teach and train students in journalism. The course is being designed on par with world class institutions and hands on training will be provided during the internship at various media houses.
In three years, the course will cover reporting, editing, photo journalism, English writing, News production for TV and Radio, Communication theory and Online Journalism besides a project work.
The second courses is BSc Maths, Statistics and Computer Science which can prepare students for software jobs and for post-graduate courses in the country and abroad. Admissions are open for freshers as well as discontinued candidates with age relaxation up to five to seven years. Eligibility for BA (JPE) is Intermediate or its equivalent in any stream while MPC students are eligible for BSc (MSCSc). Seats are allotted on first come first served basis before July 15. The students can visit the college with certificates for admission on working days between 1 pm and 6 pm, the principal added. (NSS)
