B.Ed colleges insist for 1-yr B.Ed Course

Private B.Ed colleges’ managements of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have demanded that National Council for Technical Education (NCTE) adopt the 1-year B.Ed programme.

In a meeting held by the organisation, the college administrators pointed out that there are fewer takers for the course since the duration of the course has been increased to two years. And except a few big colleges, number of students in all other colleges is in single digit. It is said that despite free education offer, students are not taking admission into 2-year course. Not only private colleges but admissions in Government College have also affected. After final admissions, 256 seats are vacant in convenor quota.

Private colleges’ administrators have made it clear that they cannot continue 2-year course, as last year only 20 to 30 percent seats were filled.
