Azharuddin keen on contesting from Secunderabad LS seat

New Delhi: Former MP and former Indian cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin has disclosed his intention to contest 2019 elections from Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency. He also clarified that final decision on contesting the 2019 election from Secunderabad constituency would depend upon the party.

It may be mentioned here that Azharuddin had won in 2009 election from Moradabad constituency in Uttar Pradesh but lost in 2014 election from Tonk-Savay constituency of Rajasthan. Azharuddin said the people of Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency wanted his candidature in the coming elections. He said when he visited the constituency, people asked him to contest from the Secunderabad constituency. He said that he conveyed the same to the party high command and State party AICC in-charge.

Responding to a question, Azharuddin said he was not thinking about victory or defeat but the people were wishing his candidature from the Secunderabad constituency. Therefore, he to was keen on contesting the ensuing poll from the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency. It may be mentioned here that the State Congress party also asked Azaharuddin to contest 2019 elections from Telangana only. (NSS)
