Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) legal advisor Mir Masood Khan has revealed that the nomination of former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin for the post of president of HCA was being rejected because Azharuddin was facing life-time ban of the BCCI. It may be recalled that Azharuddin’s nomination was rejected by the returning officer of the HCA elections.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Mir Masood Khan said the HCA was following the Lodha Committee’s recommendations. He also made it clear that another contestant G. Vivek was in Cabinet rank post but not a Minister post and hence his nomination was not rejected.
On the other hand, newly elected HCA secretary Shesh Narayan has alleged that the HCA has turned as a controversial Association. Speaking to the media, Shesh advised Azharuddin to speak while learning all things. He said it was not proper to Azharuddin, who criticized Arshad Ayub earlier, to criticize HCA along with Arshad Ayub. He suggested Azharuddin to respect the courts and said he filed nomination following the rules. He said their panel was following the recommendations of Lodha Committee and told that the HCA elections will be held on January 17. Shesh informed that the new panel will enhance the respect of the HCA and will encourage cricket in all Telangana districts by developing stadiums. He also made it clear that his panel would strive to make the HCA corrupt-free and the elections will be held under the purview of the Court. (NSS)
