Azhar in trouble Again, Issued notice: UP Polls

Congress MP Mohammad Azharuddin has been served a notice by Kayamganj Election Officer for violating model code after he distributed shawls in an election meeting in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, said officials on Monday, Feb 13.

According to the officials, Azharuddin had distributed shawls on Feb 11 at an election meeting in Shamshabad.

The notice to the former cricketer was sent by Mahendra Kumar Mishra, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), also an election officer.

Earlier, law minister Salman Khurshid had violated the model code of conduct by promising 9% quota to minorities. Khursid was heavily criticised for acting against the constitution.

The first phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election begun on Feb 8 and will get over on Mar 6.
