Hyderabad, September 12: Sunday, saw tragedy strike former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin’s family when his 18 year old son Ayazuddin was involved in a bike accident leading to grave injuries. His condition is critical and he is undergoing treatment at the Apollo hospital in Hyderabad.
After news of the bike accident spread, locals are praying for the recovery of the young boy who has sustained injuries on his head, chest and abdomen. Ayazuddon was riding his brand new 1000 cc imported Suzuki motorcycle with his cousin 16 year old Ajmal-ur-Rehman when tragedy struck. It has been reported that the bike slipped killing Ajmal in the impact. Ajmal is the son of former Congress Rajya Sabha MP Khalil-ur-Rehman who expired in Jan, this year.
Azharuddin who was in England, rushed back to Hyderabad to see his injured son who underwent emergency surgery on Sunday. Ayazuddin’s mother is also rushing back from Dubai.
Police sources claim that the dup were racing early morning on Sunday at the not-so-busy Shamshabad stretch of the six-lane road. Two-wheelers are banned in this particulat stretch. Narsingi Police Station officials commented that the bike was brand new and did not have a registration plate yet.
A police official stated, “The helmet that Aiyazruddin’s son was probably wearing was totally crushed. Tire marks at the accident spot indicate that the bike skidded and hit the road divider at a very high speed.” The duo were found in an unconscious condition with bleeding injuries.
A talented budding cricketer, Ayazuddin is a second-year student at St Mary’s College, Yousufguda and is the youngest of the two sons from Azhar’s first marriage to Naureen. Ajmal was a student of the same instituition and was Azharuddin’s sister’s son.
