Azhar complained about Kambli’s misbehaviour in 1999: Lele

Ahmedabad, July 16: Former BCCI secretary Jaywant Lele on Thursday said Vinod Kambli had misbehaved in the Indian team dressing room and then captain Mohammed Azharuddin had complained about it to the Cricket Board.

Lele told that Azharuddin had in 1999 written a letter to the then BCCI President AC Muthiah complaining about how Kambli misbehaved in the dressing room.

“Muthiah had sought my advice as to what to do with the complaint. I had advised him to inform the selection committee not to select Kambli for one or two matches as a punishment,” Lele said.

However, the question of taking any action against Kambli did not arise as he performed badly in the domestic matches played after the incident.

The national selectors did not consider Kambli for selection as he did not do well in domestic circuit and the matter ended there, Lele said.
