Azerbaijan prez’s daughter takes selfies while he speaks of genocide in UN

New York City: While the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev was addressing the United Nation Assembly, and was speaking about refugees and displaced Azerbaijanis, his daughter was taking absurd selfies.

The 33-year-old did not realise the intensity of the refugee crisis and mass genocide, who is now facing the wrath of social media.

Leyla was first listening attentively to her father’s speech as she sat beside her 53-year-old mother Mehriban in the hall, reported Daily Mail. This was before she turned her camera on herself.

As the Azerbaijan president denounced the fact that “more than one million of Azerbaijanis became refugees and internally displaced persons,” because of Armenia, his daughter started making faces at the camera.

Leyla’s action came to highlight globally from the General Assembly. Social media users were quick to note the contrast in president’s grave comments on refugees and his daughter’s inane behaviour.

Armenia committed genocide against Azerbaijanis in Khodjaly. The Khodjaly genocide is already officially recognized by more than 20 countries. On February 26, 1992, Armenia committed a war crime, killing 613 peaceful residents, including 106 women and 63 children, Azerbaijan president said.
