Lucknow:Senior Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan on Tuesday trained his guns yet again on Governor Ram Naik for withholding assent to bills and accused him of working under “influence of one party”.
The parliamentary and minority affairs minister said the UP Nagar Nigam Amendment Bill, 2015 was pending at the Raj Bhavan for more than a year.
The governor was giving an impression that he is working under influence of a party, he said during the Zero Hour in the assembly, and added that if Naik had any misgivings about the bill, he should have sought clarifications but this was not done.
At this, the Bharatiya Janata Party legislative party Suresh Khanna intervened and requested the speaker to expunge the “direct allegations” against the governor.
While Naik has maintained a studied silence on Khan’s barbs, the minister leaves no chance to attack the governor and indirectly allege that he was working for the BJP of which he was a member before his Raj Bhavan assignment.
