Hyderabad, May 17: Union Health Minister and incharge of the state Congress affairs, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed surprise over the injustices done towards minorities particularly Muslims on governmental and administrative level in Andhra Pradesh. He directed the Muslim leaders of Congress to submit reports on Waqf properties and other issues separately. Congress leaders called on Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday at Lake View Guest House. Secretary Andhra Pradesh Congress affairs Mr Krishna Murthy, former Congress state president Mr. Kamaluddin Ahmed, former Minority Welfare Minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir and others were present on the occasion.
The delegation of Muslim leaders threw light on various issues and explained the injustices done to Muslim leaders in the government and party in particular. The delegation brought to the notice of Mr. Azad the fact that the total number of MPTC members in the state is 14000 of which only 192 are Muslims. There are only 11 Muslim members out of a total of 325 ZPTC members.
Muslim representation from Telangana region is nil in the assembly. There is no Muslim Congress activist in the council too. Representation in Lok Sabha constituency is also nill. There is only one Muslim general secretary on administrative level.
They objected that non Congress persons are given importance ignoring Muslim leaders of the party. This is the reason why Muslims wholly supported YSR Congress in the Kadapa by-elections. They alleged that government failed in implementing Prime Ministers 15 point programme. Waqf properties are also destroyed on large scale.
After listening to the delegation Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad expressed surprise over the injustices done to Muslims and assured complete justice by him. He directed Muslim leaders to submit reports on various issues regarding injustices and waqf properties separately.
