New Delhi, August 11: With a resurgence in cases of swine flu this monsoon, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today reviewed the situation in various states and asked them to ensure vaccination of people at risk.
Azad held a meeting with Health Secretary Sujatha Rao, ICMR Director General V M Katoch, Director General of Health Services R K Srivastava and Drug Controller General of India Surinder Singh.
He also spoke with the Chief Ministers of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Orissa and Delhi.
The Union Health Minister asked them to review the situation and told them that the vaccines which have been sent to them should be utilised properly, official sources said. He assured them that the Centre is willing to send them whatever assistance is required.
Azad also asked the DGCI to ensure that private companies keep the vaccines adequately available in the market.
