New Delhi, June 18: Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi AzadUnion Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has given his nod to 150 educational institutions, which includes medical, dental, ayurveda and yunani colleges.
Azad cleared the permissions, which had been pending from last several years, within a week’s time after taking over the charge of the ministry.
According to reports, these pending cases comes after several public complaints that unnecessary postponement in processing cases with regard to authorization of different medical educational institutions were threatening future of students aiming to get admission in these colleges.
Each and every medical institute has to get annual authorization from the health ministry based on the suggestions of the Medical Council of India or Dental Council, hinging upon the courses provided.
“Delay breeds corruption. We have to ensure files are cleared promptly,” Azad said.
The Ministry which came into the Congress’s fold after 11 years was harassed with the alleged actions of middlemen who were minting funds by overcharging owners of these medical education institutes.
In clear terms, the minister said if any medical institute is found greasing palms of the ministry officials for authorizing cases, sanctions for colleges, or for increasing seats, strict action will be taken against the erring official and the institute concerned as well.
