Azad Day celebrations at MANUU

Hyderabad, November 10: Maulana Azad National Urdu University is organizing 4 day Azad day celebrations to pay tribute to the eminent freedom fighter & first education minister of Independent India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

MANUU is named after this legendary statesman only. 4 day celebrations will start on 11th Nov.2011, the birth anniversary of Maulana Azad. Government of India has declared this as National Education Day.

Prof. Mohammad Miyan, Vice Chancellor will unveil a life size portrait of Maulana Azad at Administrative building, Manuu Campus at 10.30 a.m. This portrait is prepared by well known painter Mr. Aziz Artist. Mr. Shiv Shanker, former union Minister will be the Chief Guest of the inaugural function to be held at DDE auditorium at 11.00 am same day. Prof S.A. Wahab will deliver the Azad Day Lecture on “Maulana Abulkalam Azad: A Great Scholar”. Prof. Mohammad Miyan will preside over.

A book exhibition on Maulan Azad will also be organized at Central library after the inaugural. Departments of Urdu, Persian, Arabic, Translation Studies, Education, Mass Communication & Journalism, Pol. Science & Public Admn will organize seminars, symposia & discussions covering different facets of Maulana Azad’s life & contribution.

A humorous Mushaira will be organized in the evening of 11th Nov. at Open air auditorium, MANUU. IDEA group, Mumbai, will present the play “Mirza Ghalib Ki Haveli” in 12th evening. Cultural Programme of school & Manuu students are also part of the celebrations.
