Senior Telangana Congress leader and Panchayat Raj Minister K. Jana Reddy has said he was called to Delhi by Union minister and State Congress Affairs Incharge Ghulam Nabi Azad to discuss about the conduct of Panchayat Raj elections in the State.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Jana Reddy said he told Azad that local body elections would be conducted on the basis of 2011 Census. He also said that this time more chances would be given to the SCs and STs in the civic polls. The minister said 18.8 percent reservation to SCs, 9.15% quota to STs and 34% reservation would be provided in the local body polls.
The Telangana Congress leader also said that he had urged Ghulam Nabi Azad to prevail upon the party high command to deliver its verdict on Telangana State at the earliest. (NSS)
