Ayurvedic medecine fair in city

Hyderabad, January 20: “We have been conducting this fair since the past three years. Around 20,000 to 30,000 people turn up for the mela,” said N Subrahmanyam, editor, Amrutham Ayurveda Vaidya Arogya Telugu Masa Patrica. From asthma and arthritis to autism and hyperthyroidism, the mela displays several medicines from different Ayurvedic medicine manufacturers.

“There are varied research products available. We expect an overall turnover of Rs 2 crores,” said N Santosh Kumar, co-ordinator, Ayurveda Mela. Several plants with specific medicinal value were exhibited at the mela apart from informative charts on the medicinal properties of several herbs. While Kamegh and Makoy cure jaundice and liver disorders, Sarpagandha and Ashok cure cardiac diseases and hyper-tension. Several pharmacies are also displaying their products at the mela.

“We have over 650 products with medicines for all the major diseases including AIDS. We have 22 patents,” said Dr Vimal of Vaidyaratnam Oushadhasala from Kerala, adding “We export our products to the US and Middle-East.” From nutritious snacks and herbal bath powder to soaps and tea, the mela offers a wide variety of Ayurvedic products to choose from.

“I am here to buy green grass. I have been taking it for over six months now and my health has improved,” said Parimala Yadavalli, a visitor. Visitors can also avail expert advice from the many experts participating in the event. “Doctors will be around for any consultation. We expect several experts in the field of Ayurveda such as Kondapally Narasimha Reddy, VLN Shastri and T S Prasad among others to attend the event,” said Subrahmanyam.

Several ghee and honey products to cure several common ailments are also available. “I am looking for a good product that can cure my acne and hairfall problems,” said Visalaksmi, another visitor, buying one of the products of Sri Ramduta Samrakhsana Gosala, based in Chirala in Prakasam district. The mela also exhibits several foot spa treatments and steam bath units. “This method helps remove toxins from one’s feet. It is very effective,” said Pandu Kumar of Sakura foot spa.

The mela will go on till January 24th.
