Ahmedabad: 25-year-old Mohammad Ayub was brutally thrashed to death by Gau Rakshaks on allegations that he was into trafficking of cows.
It was reported that on September 13 – the day Muslims celebrated Eid al-Adha, Ayub, the driver of the sports utility vehicle carrying a bullock and a calf had met with an accident on the highway.
In the accident, the calf died and the bullock survived. On seeing this, some bystanders lunged towards Ayub shouting that he was carrying the animals for slaughter.
As Ayub tried to flee from the Gau Rakshaks, the crowd chased him and attacked him up with sticks and rods because of which he suffered too many injuries.
The so called Gau Rakshaks are so empowered that they take law into their own hands and brutally thrashed people to death.
Ayub breathe his last on September 16, the day PM Modi celebrated his birthday in Gujarat where as a 9 month old baby and a 4 year old toddler, a wife and a mother mourn the loss of a father, a husband and a son.
Speaking with The Siasat Daily, Jan Sangharsh Manch member Shamshad Pathan, who is also the advocate of the deceased Ayub Mewati’s family suggested the demands to be uniformly raised on behalf of the victim, so that a real rehabilitation of the family as well as subtle course for the justice may take place.
The family members of late Ayub was dependent on him. His father Ishaq, mother Meraj Banu, unmarried sister Yasmin Banu and unmarried brother Mohammed Arif and his widow with two siblings.
Mr. Pathan suggested that compensation should be provided in view of the maintenance of father, mother, widow, two children, unmarried sister and unmarried brother.
No relief has been provided to the bereaved family which has suffered unbearable loss as the deceased was the sole earning member of the family.
