Ayodhya suits: Maya tells officials to beef up security

Lucknow, September 28: With the Supreme Court clearing the way for the Allahabad High Court to deliver its verdict on Ayodhya title suits, the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh today directed officials to beef up security at both Allahabad and Lucknow benches of the Court.

It also directed district administrations to step up vigil around places of religious, public and historical importance, Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar said.

“At an emergency meeting to review law and order in the state in view of upcoming verdict, the Chief Minister directed concerned officials to step up security at both Allahabad and Lucknow benches of the High Court.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony and be wary of anti-social elements, he told reporters here.

“The CM also directed officials to sternly deal with elements spreading rumours and disturbing communal harmony,” Singh said.
