Allahabad, September 17: In the latest development, the Nirmohi Akhada has filed a petition in the Special Bench of Allahabad High Court in Lucknow to find out amicable solution in the Ayodhya dispute.
In the reconciliation plea, Nirmohi Akhada has sought 10 days period to end the decades’ long deadlock over ownership of Babri masjid in Ayodhya.
In the plea, Akhada has requested the court to defer the final verdict till September 27 to reach a compromise.
Nirmohi Akhada is the key Hindu trust and main party in the case. Several Hindu Temples are associated with the Nirmohi trust.
Meanwhile, the high court is scheduled to hear several reconciliation pleas on Friday at 2.30 pm to find the possibilities of amicable solution.
The latest move is definitely a positive approach towards the settlement.
On the other hand, the second party in the case, Sunni Central Waqf Board, had turned down any possibilities to settle the case out of court on Thursday. Sunni Central Waqf Board lawayer said that the matter could be solved 60 years ago if any scope of compromise exists. The board had demanded verdict on September 24.
The Sunni Waqf Board has opposed the Nirmohi Akhada’s compromise plea. Petitioner Haji Mehboob Ali said that there is no scope of any out of court settlement. In his plea, he said that only court’s verdict is acceptable in the case. Also read: Will Ayodhyua issue rest in peace?
Several pleas have also requested to deffer the verdict till the end of Commonwealth Games as the violence is expected after the verdict. But legal hurdle is that the Judge in the case will retire on October 3. In such circumstances, the verdict will have to be delivered before his retirement.
However, the possibilities of any compromise are very grim in the 60-year-old case. Both the parties have discussed the issue several times in the past but no consensus reached.
