(Siasat News)“Awareness week on the Mother’s Breast Feeding” was celebrated from 1st to 7th August in various Mandals of Kodangal. During this week, wide publicity was given to the importance of Breast Feeding. The milk of the mother is like “Amrut” for the child. One hour after the child birth milk should be given to the child. Daily 8 to 10 times, milk should be fed to the child so that children could develop resistance to fight diseases.
In Kodangal, there are 230 Anganwadi centers out of which only two centers are functioning. Vacancies of CDPO are to be filled up. This year, the management didn’t supply wall posters for this programme. Moreover, Anganwadi workers were not informed about this programme. Under Kodangal Project, 90 centres in Bamraspet, 86 centres in Doulathabad, and 90 centers in Kodangal are functioning besides 6 sub-centers.
A lot of difficulty was experienced in organizing programmes during this week. Ms. Lakshmi Devi, Inspector told that instructions were not communicated for awareness programme. Publicity materials were not supplied.
However, placards were prepared and with the help of some banners, mothers in villages were made aware of breast-feeding for children.
In Bamraspet Mandal, mothers were given advice for using adequate and balanced food. They were also told about the importance of Breast Feeding for their children
