The Telangana State Auto Drivers Unions Joint Action Committee (JAC) has announced indefinite strike from Sunday midnight against the RTA and Traffic police atrocities, Md. Amanullah Khan, JAC Leader said here on Sunday.
Speaking to the media, Md Amanullah Khan demanded that the authorities withdraw auto permit cancellation order and immediately release the seized autos during a special drive conducted from May 16. He also demanded that stern action should be taken against Ola and Uber companies for collecting less fare than the autos illegally. Other demands are: Fixation of existing auto fares on par with the neighboring States, spot challans instead of bogus e-challan system, issue of driving licenses to auto drivers without Class VIII pass condition and setting up of welfare board for auto drivers.
Amanullah Khan also alleged that the authorities were showing partiality against the auto drivers and canceling permits but in the case of other transport operators, they were levying only penalties. He demanded severe action against private vehicles that were carrying passengers illegally and save RTC from losses. (NSS)
