Hyderabad: There is a plan to introduce battery run autorickshaws on the roads of Hyderabad. This has been planned by two students of Engineering from Hyderabad. They have established a company in Amberpet. This is a very low price autorickshaw. It runs 120 km when charged the battery for three hours. These students are making an attempt to convert it into solar run autorickshaws.
They reported that the cost of each autorickshaw works out to Rs. 1.20 lakh. This new autorickshaw has been named as “sweekar”.
Govt. of Telangana is giving subsidy and tax relaxation. The promoters met Chief Secretary and Transport Secretary of Telangana State. Both have expressed their delight and assured help for this project.
It may be mentioned that it does not produce sound while starting. Very soon these autorickshaws will be placed near Charminar for display.
It is reported that Central University of Hyderabad have placed an order for 100 autorickshaws. Bengalore Airport Authorities have also given an order for the supplies of these autorickshaws.
The promoters told that it was their dream to manufacture pollution free autorickshaws which has now been materialized.
