Hyderabad, November 21: The Auto Parirakshana Porata Committee consisting of 17 unions including Auto Owners Association has decided to hold a mass protest agitation on November 22 at Indira Park and to present a memorandum to the Transport Minister, Mr Shatrucherla Vijaya Rama Raju, demanding immediate increase in the existing auto fares, among other things.
Mr Mohd. Amanullah Khan, convener, TG Auto Drivers JAC, has alleged that the State government has not effected an increase in the existing auto fares so far despite abnormal hike in the prices of fuel and in the essential commodities.
He also said that the State government, with mala fide intention, has decided to harass the auto drivers. Stating that it was not proper on the part of State government to crush and snatch away their daily bread just because they are too weak to seek justice, he said that the best way to tackle the public complaints regarding the behaviour of auto driver is by giving their due and not by denying their legitimate interests.
It was also stated that the minister, Mr S Vijaya Rama Raju is slated to hold talks with auto driver union leaders on November 23 at 12 noon. Mr Amanullah Khan has warned that they would launch an indefinite auto bandh from the midnight of November 23, if the proposed talks were failed.
