The State Government has agreed to hike the Auto-rickshaw fares. The minimum auto fare was proposed to be increased from Rs.14 to Rs.16 and after that Rs.9 for every kilometer. Earlier it was Rs.8 for every kilometer. If the auto union leaders agree the proposals, the new tariff wpould come into effect from August 20.
The Auto Unions have had discussions with the Transport Minister Botcha Sathyanarayana on Tuesday and the Minister has agreed to hike the auto charges.
While nearly 20 auto unions accepted the Government proposals, some of the auto-rickshaw unions termed the decision as a ‘unilateral one’ and they were not agreeable for the meager hike. (NSS)
