Telangana Auto Drivers’ JAC convener Mohd Amanullah Khan has demanded that the State government suspend West Zone Road Transport Officer Manik Prabhu for “failing to release an Auto since the last two years.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, Amanullah Khan said that the RTA officials conducted searches on June 6, 2010 at Khairatabad and Motor Vehicle Inspector had seized Auto (AP 13 W 3666) and dumped it in the RTA office telling Auto driver Mohd Khadeer that his auto did not have proper documents. The MVI did not write any check report about the Auto.
Khan said that when Khadeer went home and brought relevant documents of the Auto, but the MVI had disappeared from the scene. When Khadeer showed the documents to Traffic constable, the latter asked him collect his vehicle from RTA office the next morning.
Khan said that the Hyderabad RTA officials said that they could not release the Auto for want of check report. They also reported said that the Auto (AP 13 W 3666) was under the purview of the West Zone. They reportedly told Khadeer that he could enquire about his Auto at West Zone office at Masab Tank. Though Khadeer approached the West Zone RTA officials, they did not release the Auto for not showing Check report.
Amanullah Khan said that the Union brought the issue to the notice of Joint Transport Officer Panduranga Rao, who asked the West Zone RTA officer Manik Prabhu to release the Auto by collecting fine from Khadeer. But Manik Prabhu was not releasing the Auto for reasons best known to him. Khan said that the JTO sent a notice to Khadeer asking him to pay Auto Tax and Compound Fee and take back his Auto. JTO also warned that if Khadeer failed to pay Compound Fee, the RTA would auction the Auto. Though Khadeer complied with the notice and paid the Compound Tax, West Zone RTO Manik Prabhu has failed to release the vehicle so far.
Khan threatened that the Auto drivers would be constrained to lay a siege to the West Zone RTA Office if it failed to release the Auto. (NSS)
