“If the State Government fails to announce a decision on enforcement of total prohibition in Telangana Sate within three days, the auto drivers would be forced to observe one day auto bandh on June 13 in the GHMC area”. The other demands include, murder case should be booked against the police constable Vinod Kumar and an ex-gratia payment of Rs. Ten laks should be made to the family members of the deceased auto driver Srihari, said the Auto drivers Unions JAC leaders, Mohd. Amanullah Khan, B. Venkatesham, A . Satti Reddy and Mirza Rafath Baig.
They expressed their deep concern over the increasing attacks on auto drivers by unsocial elements in a drunken State. As such, now there is no other alternative except to fight for enforcement of total prohibition in the State so that the person and property of auto drivers is protected. Further, they said that leaders like KCR and Kodandarams who are being called “Telangana Gandhis” are doing nothing to save the poor people from the liquor devil which is ruining the society.
A meeting of all the auto driver unions in twin cities is fixed on June 11 at AITUC office, Himayathnagar at 3 pm. The meeting will discuss and decide the future course of action plan, they said. (NSS)
