Mohd Shamsher Khan, a 50-year-old was arrested by the Kamatipura police on Thursday on charges of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl in his house on June 10.
According to the police, Shamsher Khan who is an auto driver and a resident of Osmanbagh, lured the girl by offering biscuits and chocolates. When the victim was on her way to a nearby store, she was stopped by the accused and forcibly took the victim to his house in the neighboring area, said Charminar ACP K Ashok Chakravarthi during a press conference on Thursday.
Later, the accused dropped her near the neighbourhood store and threatened her not to disclose the fact to anyone. He then asked her to inform her parents that she met with a road accident, the ACP said.
Zaheera Fathima (26), the girl’s mother, took her to Medicare hospital in Doodh Bowli for treatment. On the advice of the doctors, the victim was shifted to Osmania General Hospital, where the medical tests proved that the five-year-old girl was brutally raped by the accused.
Basing on the complaint given by victim’s mother, the police investigated the case thoroughly and arrested the accused on Thursday near Nehru Zoological Park. The vehicle used by the accused for commission of offence was also seized, under section 376 (d) (i) of IPC and section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, the ACP said.
