Auto driver held for killing two women

Hyderabad, May 26: The Vanasthalipuram police on Wednesday arrested an autorickshaw driver who allegedly used to pick up woman labourers on the pretext of providing work and take away their jewellery after killing them.

The accused, Munavath Ravi, 26, was charged with murdering D. Jangamma, 35, at the reserve forest area in Turkayamjal of Saroornagar on May 6 and Achali, 35, on the outskirts of Injapur village in Vanasthalipuram on May 19. Ravi hailed in Nalgonda district.

He came to the city to make a living 10 months ago. After his first wife deserted him, Ravi started living with another woman in a rented house at Hasthinapuram in Vanasthalipuram.

As his earnings were inadequate to support his three children and wife, Ravi hatched a plot to rob woman labourers, Vanasthalipuram CI B. Ravinder Reddy, said.

Two pairs of silver anklets and another pair of gold earrings, which he took away from the two victims, were recovered from him.
