Auto crushed between lorries, four die

Medak, January 3: Four persons were killed and while another was left with injuries in a major road accident which occurred at Pragnapur Crossroads, Gajwel mandal in Medak district, on Sunday evening.

According to Inspector Chatur Singh Rathod, the mishap occurred when an auto-rickshaw proceeding towards Pragnapur was hit by a lorry coming from the opposite direction. Meanwhile, another lorry coming from behind also hit the auto-rickshaw, crushing the vehicle.

Mr Rathod revealed that auto driver Venkatesham Goud (24) and Mohan Rao (23), a B-tech final year student of Syed Hashim Engineering College were killed on spot, while Devender (25) a resident of Medchal mandal and Rajamani (35) a resident of Gajwel died in Gajwel Civil Hospital while undergoing treatment.

The injured person has been identified as Shankar (35). His injuries have been identified as not life threatening.

Police registered a case Under Section 304 (A) IPC and took up further investigations to nab the absconding lorry drivers.
