Auto bandh in city on September 5

Telangana Auto Drivers Joint Action Committee has announced that the auto drivers in the twin cities, including outskirts would observe one-day Auto Strike on September 5 demanding cancellation of e-challan system and also a permanent solution to the auto parking problem in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district.

In a pressnote here, Telangana Auto Drivers JAC convenor Mohd Amanullah Khan has stated that a big rally of auto drivers would be taken out from Sundaraiah Park to Indira Park in protest against the harassment by the Traffic Police. He stated that they would submit memoranda to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Home Minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy against the Traffic police.

Pointing out that e-challan system was cancelled in Vijayawada a year ago, he asked why the system which was not being implemented in the Seemandhra region was continued in the Telangana region i.e. twin cities and the outskirts. He alleged that the e-challan system was aimed at targeting only auto drivers to collect lakhs of rupees from them every month only to fill the empty coffers of the exchequer by foisting false cases against the auto drivers. He also refuted the claim of the City Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) C V Anand that auto drivers were ahead in traffic violations.
