Shahid not dancing with Priyanka

Mumbai, June 10: Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor are the latest couple to sizzle around the industry. Well it was recently reported that Shahid has opted out of the IIFA Awards 2009, where he was supposed to perform with Priyanka from their upcoming film Kaminey.

Akmal attributes performance to ”hard work”

London, June 10: Pakistan wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal, who was named the man-of-the-match after his team’s 82-run victory over the Dutch, said he was relieved after the Greenshirts managed to qualify for the Super Eights in the ongoing World T20 Championship here.

Akmal, who struck a 30-ball 41 and then set a new T20 International record with four stumpings at the Lord’s yesterday, attributed his match-winning performance in Pakistan’s do-or-die game against the Netherlands to ”hard work”.

IIFA chooses the Bachchans over Kareena

Speaking about getting celebrities to the show, Soha says, she wants to play the game with her brother – Saif. Soha, who thinks that they (Saif and Soha) have a very good understanding of each other, felt her team work with bhai jaan will be super good and if they come to play on the sets of her new game show, they are sure to win a good prize.

PA denies story of ‘suicide attack women’

Gaza, June 10: The Palestinian Authority Security Services’ spokesman has rejected an Israeli report saying Palestinian police have arrested three Qalqiliya women preparing for suicide bombings.

An Israeli news report on Tuesday morning claimed that the Hamas-affiliated women were preparing to blow themselves up amidst PA officers but were arrested and taken into custody.

Woman health worker accuses senior colleague of sexual abuse

Vadodara, June 10: A female health worker, Sarjan Parmar (28) from Vajeria village of Tilakwada taluka in Narmada district, has accused the Tilakwada block health officer, Dr Pramod Srivastav, of sexually abusing her. Not just that, Sarjan and her husband have threatened to stage a dharna in front of Narmada district superintendent’s office if the matter is not resolved. Srivastav has denied the allegation.

Sex rackets busted in Mohali

Mohali, June 10: Cracking the whip against flesh trade rackets in Mohali and Lalru, the district police arrested 20 persons on Tuesday. Those arrested including the two kingpins of the rackets, ten women allegedly involved in prostitution and eight alleged customers. The police said the owner of a hotel where the racket flourished and another man managed to escape.

Acting on a tip-off, two police teams were sent to raid a hotel in Lalru and a house in Phase VI, Mohali, Senior Superintendent of Police Jatinder Singh Aulakh said.

BMW planning mass production of e-vehicles by 2015

Munich, June 10: BMW has no plans for forming a partnership with other manufacturers on battery powered electric vehicles and has its own plans to mass-produce “megacity” e-vehicles by the year 2015, BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer has announced.

The car maker will decide by the end of the year whether to establish a subsidiary for the “megacity vehicles” alongside the current BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce labels, according to Reithofer.

In contrast to other big car makers BMW has not undergone a partnership with a battery maker for electric vehicles.

Sour over love triangle, ex-student killed IIPM man with 2 others: police

New Delhi, June 10: A former IIPM student planned and murdered Anand Tiwari, 26, an MBA student at the South Delhi institute, along with two friends on May 25 as he did not like Tiwari’s intimacy with his alleged former girlfriend, the police said on Tuesday.

Rahul Chaddha, 28, who passed out of the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) last June, was arrested from Mehrauli on Monday following a tip-off. His co-conspirators — identified as Arjun and Arun — are still on the run, the police said.
