The actress was shooting with Shahid Kapoor by a lake near Aurangabad for her next film.

Recipe: Crispy Corn

It is easy to make and can be served as a snack at tea time.

Ingredients

2 – sweet corn cobs
2 tbsp – corn flour
1 tbsp – rice flour
1 tsp – chilli powder
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
1 – tomato
1 – onion
Coriander leaves
2 tsp – lemon juice
1 tsp – chaat masala

Instructions

Steam the corn cobs in salt water.

Remove the cobs from water and shred the corn kernels and collect them on a flat plate.

Mix corn flour, rice flour, chilly powder and some salt together and sprinkle this mixture on the shredded corn kernels.

How `miracle diet` helps beat epileptic seizures

Calcium supplements up risk of heart attack: Study

Taking calcium supplements can double the risk of heart attack, claims a new study.

Results of the study show that people who used calcium supplements regularly were 86% more likely to suffer a heart attack than those who did not.

The new findings are based on a study conducted by researchers at German Cancer Research Centre, in Heidelberg, who followed 23,980 people, aged 35-64, for over a decade.

During the period 354 of participants had heart attack and 260 had a stroke. There were 267 associated deaths during the course of study.

New TB test promises to be cheap and quick

Researchers have come up with a microfluidic chip to test for latent tuberculosis.

They hope that the test will be cheaper, faster and more reliable than the current one.

Biomedical engineers at UC Davis claim that the test can be reused as well.

“Our assay is cheaper, reusable, and gives results in real time,” said Ying Liu, a research specialist working with Professor Alexander

Revzin in the UC Davis Department of Biomedical Engineering.

The team has already tested blood samples from patients in China and the United States.

‘Obama, Romney tied in US presidential race’

Americans are split between President Barack Obama and his Republican challenger Mitt Romney less than six months before the Presidential Elections in November, according to two new polls.

A Washington Post/ABC News survey released on Tuesday showed the two candidates statistically tied with 49 percent of Americans backing Obama and 46 percent supporting Romney.

When asked which contender would best handle the economy, Obama and Romney were tied at 47 percent.

Egypt’s presidential vote begins amid tight security

Egyptians went to polls on Wednesday morning to elect their new president after last year’s fall of Hosni Mubarak who had ruled for 30 years.

The polling stations opened at 8 am across the country under tight security, reported Xinhua.

About 50 million eligible voters will select one from 12 presidential candidates. Top hopefuls include former Arab League chief Amr Moussa, Islamist Aboul Fotouh, Freedom and Justice Party chairman Mohamed Morsi and former prime minister Ahmed Shafiq.

Pak speeding up work on fourth nuclear reactor

Pakistan is half way through the construction of its fourth nuclear reactor at Khushab, which will give it capability to speed up plutonium manufacturing, latest US satellite imagery has revealed.

On completion, the reactor would enable Islamabad to build large number of smaller nuclear warheads, Washington-based eminent think-tank Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) said.

Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari says that he dreams of a Pakistani Parliament that will have 50 percent women, it was reported here.

Zardari attended a discussion hosted by the United States Institute of Peace in Washington where he highlighted the role of women in Pakistan, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.

He quoted his mother Benazir Bhutto, a former prime minister who was assassinated in 2007, as saying that “the people who resent me do so because I am young, I am a Bhutto and I am a woman”.

Russia to boost scientific research: Putin

President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia will spend 2.5 percent of its GDP to boost scientific research, a plan which will see scientists contributing to the modernisation of the country’s military, RIA Novosti reported.

Speaking at a meeting at the Russian Academy of Sciences here Tuesday, Putin said the research could “increase Russia’s defence capabilities”.

“We intend to actively involve research organisations and universities… in our plans to modernise the military,” said the Russian president without giving any time frame for when the funding is expected to increase.

90m homes may be automated globally by 2017

90 million houses around the world will have some form of home automation system in place by 2017, a study revealed.

According to the study released May 16 by global technology trend forecasters ABI Research, home automation systems allow users to control aspects of their home, such as lighting or temperature, and monitor elements such as energy usage either remotely or from a central control panel.

The May 16 report by ABI Research estimates that by 2017 the demand for home automation systems will have grown by 60 percent, a newspaper reported.

New fossil material found in Patagonia has shed light on the evolution of dinosaurs in the Jurassic age.

When Tyrannosaurus and its relatives roamed North America and Asia, the abelisaurids occupied a similar niche in Patagonia and other areas of Gondwanaland.

They were the dominant predators in the Southern hemisphere and resembled the tyrannosaurids in their general appearance, but their unusually short and high skulls were unique.
