Cotton worth 3.7 cr. destroyed in fire

Hyderabad, June 15: A major fire destroyed over 3,200 cotton bales worth about Rs.3.70 crore in a godown on the premises of the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) located on the Chilakaluripet road on Sunday morning. The fire which broke out in the ‘E’ block was, however, contained by the evening after the fire brigade and poclains broke through the walls of the godown to allow access to the fire tenders.

Railway Minister flags off Howrah-Digha Kandari Exp

Kolkata, June 15: The Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee flagged off Howrah – Digha Kandari Express at Howrah Station.

Speaking on the occasion Miss Banerjee informed another new train Tamralipta Express will also start running between Howrah and Digha from on Monday.

The Railway Minister said her Ministry is preparing a plan to connect rail communication with all important tourist spots in the country.

I-T files case against SRK

Mumbai, June 14: King Khan might have been Bollywood’s highest advance tax payer last year. But the I-T department has not forgotten that the man still owes them money from nearly ten years ago.

The Bombay High Court on Thursday admitted an appeal, by the I-T department, challenging an order of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), which had ruled in the star’s favour in June 2008.

In the first of its appeals, the I-T department seeks to claim a sum of Rs 19.43 lakh from the actor, out of a total exemption of Rs 72.67 lakh for the assessment year of 1998-1999.

Ahmedabad, June 14: Various organisation of students, parents and social activists have jointly given a call for a “Surat bandh” on Monday to protest the gang-rape of a minor girl by three youths on Friday.

The incident involving sons of policemen has caused so much anger that the accused were beaten up by an angry group when they were brought for medical examination at the civil hospital on Saturday.

Jaitley asks Karnataka BJP leaders to maintain discipline

New Delhi, June 12: Amid reports of dissidence in its Karnataka unit, BJP on Friday asked party leaders to maintain discipline and work unitedly and refrain from doing anything that will tarnish the image of the state government.

“I have directed all senior leaders to maintain discipline and do nothing that would dent the image of the government and the party,” senior party leader Arun Jaitley told reporters at the end of his two-day trouble-shooting mission.

Ingredients:

• 1 Cup Moong Dal

• 2 Tsp Gram Flour

• 2 Green Chilies

• 2 Tbsp Chopped Cabbage

• 2 Tbsp Chopped Carrots

• 2 Tsp Fruit Salt

• 1 Tbsp Fresh Curds

• A Pinch Asafetida

• Salt to Taste

Method:

• Soak moong dal for two hours and drain the water.

• Add little water and green chilies.

• Grind the mixture in a mixer.

• Add gram flour, asafetida, curds and salt.

• Add fruit salt and mix properly.

• Sprinkle with chopped cabbage.

• Steam cook for about 10 minutes.

Shami Kabab

Ingredients:
• ½ Kg Minced Meat
• 2 Tbsp Channa Dal
• 1 Tsp Cumin And Coriander Powder
• 1 Tsp Garam Masala
• 6 Garlic Flakes
• 2 Pieces Cinnamon
• 3 Cloves
• 1 Piece Ginger
• 2 Cardamoms
• 6 Pepper Seeds
• 2 Tsp Chili Powder
• 1 Bunch Coriander Leaves
• 1 Egg
• Lemon
• 2 Onions
• Oil for Frying
• Salt to Taste

Method:
• Wash and soak channa dal in water for 30 minutes.
• Wash and drain the minced meat.
• Mix the chana dal, whole spices, a cup of water and salt to taste. Cook well.

Chicken Roll Recipe

Ingredients:

• 1 Cup Cooked Chicken

• 2 Tomatoes

• 2 Onions

• 2 Eggs

• 1 Tsp Ginger Garlic Paste

• 1 Tsp Garam Masala

• Few Tortillas

• 2 Tsp Oil

• Salt to Taste

• Chili Powder

Method:

• Wash, clean, cut and cook chicken.

• Cut onion and tomato separately.

• Sauté chopped onions in heated oil.

• Add ginger garlic paste and fry.

• Add tomato and chicken.

• Fry well and add the chili powder, salt to taste and garam masala.

• Sauté well and remove from flame.

Strawberry Watermelon Punch

Ingredients:

• 1 Pint Strawberries

• 4 Cup Fresh Watermelon Juice

• ½ Tsp Pureed Ginger

• ½ Cup Sugar

Method:

• Wash and stem berries in cold water.

• Force through a food mill to separate seeds from the puree.

• Extract the fruit puree using nylon sieve.

• Combine all the Ingredients: in a jug, stir well and refrigerate for few hours.

Chicken Malai Kebabs Recipe

Ingredients:

• ½ Kg Chicken Boneless

• ½ Cup Fresh Cream

• 1 Tsp Red Chili Paste

• 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice

• 1 Tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste

• 1 Tsp Garam Masala

• 1 Tsp Red Chili Powder

• 1 Tsp Cumin Powder

• 1 Tbsp Oil

• Salt to Taste

Method:

• Wash and clean chicken.

• Cut it into 1 inch pieces and make slits on all sides.

• Mix all Ingredients: along with chopped chicken pieces.

• Allow it to marinate over night.

• Refrigerate it after marinating for one hour.

Chicken Fry Recipe

Ingredients:

Chicken – 1 kg
Chilly powder – 2 tbsp
Coriander powder – 2 tbsp
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala – 1 tbsp
Grinded Ginger – 1 tsp
Grinded Garlic – 1 tsp
Salt, Oil – As required
White part of egg – 3 eggs

Procedure:

1. Slice Chicken in big pieces and make cuts on them.

2. Mix Chilly powder, Coriander powder, Turmeric powder, Garam masala, Grinded Ginger, Garlic and marinate for 45 minutes.

3. Heat the Oil in a Kadai.

4. Dip Chicken pieces in egg white and deep fry.

China cautions India on troop build-up near border

Beijing, June 12: China on Thursday rejected suggestions that incursions by its troops into the Indian territory were on the rise, and cautioned India that any move to increase troop presence along the disputed border in Arunachal Pradesh “would only lead to a rivalry between the two countries.”

UP teen raped by father over 3 yrs

Lucknow, June 12: A 15-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh has accused her father of raping her for three years and making her pregnant twice, police said on Thursday.

“The class 10 student, a resident of Mahadev Nagar in Aligarh district, alleged that her father forced her into an illicit relationship, threatening her,” police inspector Udaiveer Malik said over telephone from Aligarh.

Nand Kishore, who is absconding, is a lecturer at a college in Sonbhadra district. A case has been registered against him.

Manmohan offering ‘badly needed’ olive branch: Pakistani media

Islamabad, June 11 : Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has offered a ‘badly needed’ olive branch to restore sub-continental peace by offering to walk half the way to resume the dialogue with Pakistan, an editorial in a leading English daily said Thursday, while another hoped Islamabad would ‘be able to meet’ New Delhi at that point.

Manmohan Singh’s statement in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday “will be seen as the olive branch that is badly needed in the present state of impasse between India and Pakistan”, Dawn said in an editorial headlined “A silver lining”.

Sonam Kapoor trips in over-excitement

Hong Kong, June 11: Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor’s bubbly nature took a toll on her when she saw a friend at the Hong Kong airport and tripped.

At the Hong Kong airport Sonam saw a friend and stepped forward without looking where she was going to wave at her — and tripped.

Sonam was with her sister Rhea Kapoor and father Anil Kapoor at the airport Wednesday. She was heading to Macau for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) weekend and awards starting Thursday.
