Australia’s Brad Haddin calls curtains on illustrious ODI career

Australia wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Haddin has announced his retirement from one-day international cricket after he helped his team clinch their fifth World Cup title less than two months ago.

The veteran wicketkeeper claimed 170 catches and 11 stumpings during his illustrious 14-year playing career. Besides, the right-handed batsman has scored 3,122 runs in the 50-over format.

Haddin said that he has had a privileged one-day career, adding that it is the right time to walk away, the BBC reported.

Haddin further said that he is leaving the team with Australia ranked number one in the world, adding that he is proud of everything they had achieved.

The wicketkeeper, however, will continue to play Test cricket and is expected to feature for Australia’s two-Test series against the West Indies next month before the five-Test Ashes series against England in July.

Haddin maintained that not many players get to write a script like him at the end of their careers as he has been lucky enough to do just that after winning a World Cup on home soil. (ANI)
