Australian commission to open five new offices

Kochi, December 18: Australia is looking at more enhanced trade partnerships with India, particularly in small cities and will open five new offices in the country, Australian Consul General and Trade commissioner for South India, Aminur Rahman, said today.

There are plans to put new staff in Tier-II cities like Chandigargh, Jaipur in the north, Ahmedabad and Pune in the west and Kochi in the south, Rahman said at a seminar here on ‘Doing Business with Australia’.

The Kochi office is expected to be functional by March or April next, he said, adding interviews for selecting staff was held today. A business development manager would be appointed here, he said.

There are also plans to expand offices in Bangalore, Kolkata and Hyderabad. “We are enlarging our consulates in Mumbai and Chennai.
