London: Australian towering pacemanJosh Hazlewood has been picked over veteran Peter Siddle in the playing XI for the opening Test match of the three-match series against New Zealand at theGabba on Thursday.
The 24-year-old bowler, who was physically exhausted and low on confidence, was rested from the final Ashes Test against England in August, the Guardian reported.
Team captain Steve Smith said that the decision was obviously disappointing for Siddle as he bowled extremely well in The Oval Test match but added that Hazlewood was selected on the basis of his extreme success against India last year. (ANI)
