London, July 19 (ANI): According to a recent study, Australia is the most sceptical country in the world about environmental issues, with one in five Australians disbelieving in climate change.
A research conducted by the University of Tasmania found that almost 17 percent of Australians did not believe in climate change, followed by 15 percent of people in Norway, 13 per cent in New Zealand and 12 per cent of Americans, reported The Independent.
It also found that people in countries with higher carbon emissions, like the United States, Australia and Norway, which occupied the top slot on the list, were more likely to be sceptical of environmental issues.
On the other hand, countries with the highest environmental concern included Canada and Switzerland.
The research was published in the journal, Global Environment Change, and surveyed nearly 20,000 people in 14 industrialised countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany and the U.K. It was based on data collected through the International Social Survey Programme in 2010 and 2011. (ANI)
