Mumbai, July 10: Australia is willing to have some collaboration in the field of higher education including research and students exchange programmes with the Maharashtra Government.
This was announced here after a meeting of state minister for higher education Rajesh Tope, secretary J. S Saharia and Colin Walters, senior official from the Australian Department of Education.
“We are taking this initiative in the areas of environment, agriculture, bio sciences and clean energy projects as India and Australia have similar climatic conditions,” said Colin Walters.
“We had discussion on students exchange programmes between the universities and institutions, education systems, examinations, syllabi, etc.,” said J. S. Saharia state secretary for higher and technical education.
“We got enthusiastic response from minister about Maharashtra-Australian joint working committee,” added Walters.
“Australia is already having some collaborative research projects with IIT Mumbai and more such collaborations are likely with other institution,” informed Prof. Arun Sharma, Deputy vice-chancellor of Queensland University of Technology.
