Audi executive to be Tesla’s new vice president vehicle production

New York : American automotive and energy storage company Tesla has hired Audi executive Peter Hochholdinger as its new vice president of vehicle production.

Hochholdinger will be in charge of production of the current Model S and Model X, as well as scaling up the manufacturing program for the newly announced Model 3, the Verge reports.

“Tesla is excited to have Peter join the team,” the company said in a statement.

Tesla designs, manufactures, and sells electric cars, electric vehicle powertrain components, and battery products. Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk has said that he envisions Tesla Motors as an independent automaker, aimed at eventually offering electric cars at prices affordable to the average consumer. Pricing for the Tesla Model 3, slated to begin retail deliveries by the end of 2017, will start at USD 35,000 before any government incentives. (ANI)
