Niloufer Hospital is one of the oldest hospitals of the city which is the institute of child health. With commercialization of medical profession, doctors and other medical staff have lost service spirit. One attendant with each patient is allowed to stay in the hospital but they are not provided a proper place to sleep let alone a bed.
When Siasat correspondent visited the hospital at 1 am he was surprised to see hundreds of attendants lying under the open sky in the chilling cold. The attendants include locals as well as those who came from districts. Pathetically the attendants are not provided a shelter to sleep under.
Telangana government has allocated a budget of Rs. 30 crore for Niloufer Hospital; now it remains to be seen how and when the fund is utilized. A woman attendant told that it is more difficult to find a proper place to answer nature’s call than to sleep under the open sky.
