The eighth weekly colloquium of Telangana Resource Centre was held at Oxford Grammar School, Himayathnagar. In which ‘Rangapur Declaration’, “Warangal Highway Problems and their Solutions” and the “attitude of the Govt. of A.P. towards the NIMS Hospital at Bibinagar” were discussed. The other issues such as to establish EFLU in Andhra area, CCMB, Railway recruitments and irrigation problems were also discussed in the meeting. Experts on these topics presented their views. Mr. K. Narasimha Reddy, Former MLA Bhongir & President Praja Chaitanya Vedika, Mr. Srisailam, TV Journalist, Dr. Muthaym Reddy, Registrar, Mahatma Gandhi University Nalgonda, Mr. Ravinder Reddy, Convener, Shahmeerpet Jala Sadhana Samithi (Pramehitha Project), Mr. Harinath, Mr. Chandraiah and others participated in the discussions.
Mr. Narasimha Reddy told that the river adjacent to Highway 202 is being closed which may cause damage to more than one hundred nearby villages. He further told that this river used to supply drinking water to the neighboring habitation but due to construction of highway and by shedding the industrial chemical waste into the river, it has almost come to ruin stage.
He also told that Musi River near Ghatkesar is under threat for the construction of highway. He expressed his anger over the delay in the construction of NIMS hospital at Bibinagar. He informed the gathering that the hospitals constructed in Telangana area are being handed over to private organizations. He demanded the Govt. to establish NIMS Hospital as a medical university so that the people may get medical facilities and medical students practical training. Pranehitha Project was also discussed Dr. Muthyam Reddy, who has been keeping constant vigil on this project told that earlier it was announced that Shahmeerpet Tank would be linked to Chevella but the Govt. wants to change its original plan. This could have provided drinking water to city areas. Govt. had announced earlier that EFLU would be established in Telangana but the Andhra leaders are trying to get it shifted to Andhra area. These efforts were condemned in the meeting. Mr. M. Ved Kumar, President of Telangana Resource Centre thanked all the participants.
